Caravan Park: 5/5 stars by

A great place to camp or caravan. All pitches have water and electric. The place is high on top of a hill with great views. At night it can get a little chilly and windy. All staff are very friendly and the cafe is well worth a visit, all cakes are made on site, by young staff. We will visit again. Showers and toilet block has central heating and there is disability parking.

Caravan Park: 5/5 stars by

Peaceful place, lovely views and having nice weather always helps. On site coffee and cakes shop with other items available. Carrot cake is amazing, as is lemon drizzle our diet went out the window this weekend. Ice cream is expensive but you get what you pay for, its quality stuff. We will certainly return. Enjoyed walking into Barrow upon Soar along the bridal path. Great food shops along old fashioned High Street. Then down to Riverside pubs for walking along side river very relaxing. Site owners very helpful also facilities clean and well maintained.

A lovely warm welcome and really nice clean facilities

Caravan Park: 5/5 stars by

A lovely warm welcome and really nice clean facilities, excellent farm shop with a cafe on site too. All the pitches are either grass or hard standing and all with electric hook up as well. Every pitch is perfectly flat, my only gripe is £1 for a shower granted this gives you 10 mins, but come on at £35 a night the showers should be included.

Farm Shop: 5/5 stars by

Lovely tea room setting both in and out. Selling cooked and fresh filled roller home made cakes hot and cold drinks in a lively field like setting. You can camp and take on a mobile camper van. There’s wash rooms toilets and a farm shop selling veg fruit and logs. Like it

Caravan Park: 5/5 stars by

We stayed here in a campervan for one night
Very clean well kept pitches, there is a lovely cafe/farm shop on sight that makes delicious bacon and sausage baps and the toilets and showers were spotlessly clean.
We took the dog for very nice walk into Barrow via the bridle path, the hunting lodge pub which had a large beer garden and real ales was a 25 mins walk away.
We would definitely come again.

Farm Shop: 5/5 stars by

Lovely surroundings and the perfect little countryside tea room. The ladies behind the counter know about their products and are delightful to talk to. The little tea shop is often open during the week and also sells lovely jams, handmade cards and some knickknacks that are good for presents.

Everything on this sight is to a very high standard & attention to detail. Friendly staff I love the small tea rooms on sight al the nice little treats as well the grounds came round on a daily basis removing any rubbish for us. This is a credit to the owners & all staff we will return in the year when our busy work schedule allows us to chill out ????

Caravan Park: 5/5 stars by

Just returned from a two night stay with our caravan. The site is well maintained, the warden was very helpful and the facilities were spotless. There are excellent views over adjacent countryside and the onsite farm shop and tea shop are an added bonus. The site is conveniently located for visiting many places of interest in the surrounding area e.g. Bradgate Park and and local villages, Loughborough Town whilst the village of Barrow on Soar with a choice of pubs, take aways and shops is only a steady 15 minute stroll away.
Highly recommended site

Lovely site

The Caravan Park: 3/5 stars by

Lovely site very well laid out. Good facilities but why have coin-operated showers been installed, it is very reasonably priced per night so why not add an extra pound or two to the pitch fee. This would save having to search around for pound coins. There should also be a mop provided to mop out the showers after use.

Perfect site

The Caravan Park: 5/5 stars by

Just returned from a lovely weeks stay at this perfect site. Facilities are spotless and if you look at the gallery of photos they are exactly what you see on arrival. This is an ideal base for exploring the many places to visit in and around the surrounding area.
This is definitely a well cared for and loved site, the owners should feel very proud with all the hard work they have put into it, making it such a nice place to stay. You won’t be disappointed, lovely views are an added bonus!

This caravan and camping site is beautiful

The Caravan Park: 5/5 stars by

This caravan and camping site is beautiful to look at and the pitchers are very big. This is an adult only site with about 40 pitchers. The people that own this place are very nice and they can’t do enough for you. It’s not been open long, but what they’ve already done to it is lovely. We’ve booked 4 more holidays for this year.
10 out of 10.

Little hidden gem

The Caravan Park: 5/5 stars by

Little hidden gem, greeted well on arrival by Janet showed us facilities then available pitches. The grass was lovely plenty of space and close to water points showers very roomy, plenty of hot water.

Nice walk into Barrow. Can recommend the Moorings pub by the bridge and a good Co-op in the middle of the town.

Will definitely be back good price as well.

Well organised, attractive caravan and camp site

The Caravan Park: 5/5 stars by

Well organised, attractive caravan and camp site but still beautifully relaxed. The spacious field we were in had electric hookup for our tent. We were able to camp where ever we wanted. There were about 6 caravans in this field but we all had lots space and privacy.

The facilities are excellent. Clean and very well organised.

The fact this is an adult only site is a bonus.

We will be staying here again.

Thank you for the warm welcome.

Blown away by the site layout

The Caravan Park: 5/5 stars by

This was our first visit and to be honest for £15 a night, I was blown away by the site layout, cleanliness, landscaping and the toilet block/facilities were amazing.

As mentioned previously a little road noise is evident but not distracting.

Proximity to the village and railway station is great.

Will be back.

Lovely, clean, attractive site

The Caravan Park: 5/5 stars by

Lovely clean, attractive site with modern shower and toilet block. Friendly and helpful welcome. Not a far drive from village centre and several pubs.

Could do with coat hooks and some plastic matting in shower as tiles are cold on your feet. Some noise from main road but not enough to stop sleep!

Our fourth visit to this great little site

The Caravan Park: 4/5 stars by

Our fourth visit to this great little site. Have to say we were a bit put out to find that the site fees had gone up by a third since our last visit earlier this year, It IS still worth the money; But at £20 a night they could throw in the showers instead of charging £1 extra for them. At this level it’s also time Bill took card payments – we don’t all carry £100 in cash.

Whilst there is a road running along one side of the site, it is not an issue; traffic is not too busy and very scarce at night. Best to choose pitch at the back of the site or in the field if you’re a light sleeper.

Facilities well adequate and always clean.

Had an excellent Chinese take-away from in the village, and a lovely meal at the Hunting Lodge hotel. Would definitely go back to both.

Lots of things to do in the area. We went specifically for the Great Central Railway gala, for which the site is very close; also visit Bradgate Park, Thornton Reservoir for a pleasant walk; Abbey Pumping Station in Leicester, or take the bus from the Birstall Park & Ride into Leicester for the Highcross shopping centre or Richard 3rd exhibition.

Another pleasant stay; keep ‘our’ pitch warm for next year!

A very pleasant stay

The Caravan Park: 5/5 stars by

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at this site and on both occasions, we have had a very pleasant stay. The fees are £20 per night, payable on arrival in cash or via cheque. The first time, the showers were available to use via tokens, but this has now been changed to use via £1 coin, which is much better.

We took our dog with us this time, she loved the field, but would have loved it more had she been able to run off the lead, but clearly due to the equestrian, therefore close proximity to the horses and donkey this is not possible.

The heated toilet and shower block is kept very clean, showers are very hot with excellent water pressure. The staff are very pleasant, should you have any queries, they are very approachable. We will most definitely use the site again!

Apr

A nice site

The Caravan Park: 4/5 stars by

A nice site, with road noise as already mentioned. An odd owner (if he is the owner); we changed our number of nights from 5 to 4, emailed, as you do, but he didn’t read it and this completely flummoxed him, so suggest phoning instead.

Would suggest coming from either direction on the M1, to leave at J22 and not 26, which is besieged by roadworks at the moment, then you have to tow through Loughborough which we found a nightmare. 22 is much easier.

There are no walks directly from the site, but there are some in the village, along the canal or river, which are very pleasant. Also go to Bradgate park, only a few miles away.

There is a handy Waitrose at Mountsorrel, down the A6 towards Leicester and right at the first roundabout, then first left. A couple of small shops and a fuel station in Barrow.

We probably won’t use the site again, too far off the motorway for an overnighter and we ‘did’ the area in the time we were there.

Apr

Lovely, clean, well maintained site

The Caravan Park: 5/5 stars by

Basic info first £15 per night including EHU and awning. Showers £1 token (from the office) for 4 minutes. Hard standing for vans, grass for awnings. 25 pitches plus a tenting field. Lovely clean well maintained site, pitches not too close together.

Modern heated toilet and shower block. Gents 2 wc, 2 urinals, 3 wash basins, 2 shower rooms (which are bigger than a lot of bathrooms). Ladies 2 large shower rooms, 2 wc, 3 wash basins. Disabled toilet facilities, indoor wash up area, washing machine and drier.

Only slight negative it is right next to a road so you do get some traffic noise, especially at commuter time. Would we go there again YES if we were in the area.

We spent four very pleasant nights

The Caravan Park: 5/5 stars by

Our return visit in conjunction with the Great Central Railway gala weekend. We spent four very pleasant nights again at this gem of a site.

It was more occupied than at our visit in July – it’s obviously getting known. A couple of apparent ‘long termers’ on site now. However greater usage has not compromised the facilities. They were always clean and kept stocked with loo rolls and paper towels.

We had a meal out at the Three Crowns pub; very noisy but excellent food at modest prices. Wish we had gone there for breakfast, but didn’t see the sign until we were on our way home.

A day in Loughborough was quite pleasant. Good selections of shops and very nice to stroll around Queen’s Park. Had lunch at the Unicorn pub. Won’t go again!

Also visited Melton Mowbray for the Food Festival.

Having found this great site, we certainly be back yet again in 2018. Pity it shuts over the winter.

Very tidy site with fantastic views

The Caravan Park: 5/5 stars by

Just spent a night at this delightful site. Day 1 of owning a touring caravan we wanted to experience its full effect so looked for a site local to us. We were not disappointed. Very reasonable for one night, great site, very level, with all pitches identified.

Fabulous toilet and shower facilities if you needed to use them, but will need to acquire tokens for the shower (£1 for 4 minutes).

Very tidy site with fantastic views, would definitely look to come again.

Please note though this is a adult only site.

Overall a ‘Thumbs up’ from us.

What a super find!

The Caravan Park: 5/5 stars by

Just spent a long weekend at High Meadow Farm – what a super find! Adults only, site now has 40 pitches, 12 with gravel standing, and 24 hook-ups. The facilities are superb and spotless. At £15 a night it is well underpriced.

Located just outside the village of Barrow upon Soar it is very well situated for Charnwood Forest, Leicester, the Great Central Railway, Melton Mowbray and many other places to visit.

Barrow upon Soar village has several food outlets, from coffee shop to chinese take away. There are at least three pubs serving meals. There is a 30 minute bus service to Leicester and Loughborough.

Brilliant site – some small improvements possible – and we have booked to return in October for a longer visit.

Jun

2017

There is plenty to do in the surrounding area

The Caravan Park: 5/5 stars by

High Meadow Farm is no longer a CCC Certified Site, now a commercial site and adults only, and consists of grass and hardstanding pitches, it’s not quite level so blocks and chocks are required. The site is on a working livery farm, so there is coming and going all day, the owner is usually to be found at the bottom of the yard, washing down horses, or in her ‘other’ office.

The facilities block is new, and consists of pot wash room with washing machine and dryer, a disabled room and the usual ladies and gents, with open sinks, toilets and two very large wetroom type showers, the showers are token operated and each token gives 4 minutes of shower time, the tokens are £1 each, which may seem a little steep, but when you consider the nightly fee is a mere £15, it is still an inexpensive site.

High Meadow Farm is situated outside the village of Barrow upon Soar, where you will find a small co-op, several good pubs, (the Soar Bridge is lovely) and a lovely café with friendly staff.

There is plenty to do in the surrounding area, Calke Abbey, Kedleston Hall and Belton House, all NT properties, are within easy driving distance as is Bradgate Country Park, wherein lies the ruins of the childhood home of Lady Jane Grey and the folly known as Old John, a tower sitting on the highest point in the local area. The park has several pay and display car parks (though parking is not expensive) two cafes and a visitor centre. There are also several cafes outside the gates of the park, highly recommend the Jade Tearoom, friendly staff and delicious food, cooked to order.

If you are after a thrill, head for Prestwold Driving Centre on an event day, there are sports cars galore to drive as well as a rally course to test your nerve.

What a Fabulous site! We stayed on this site for 2 nights for a short break. Excellent welcome, we were shown a choice of pitches by a lovely gentlemen he also showed us where the facilities were and the elsan etc. We pitched up and settled in to enjoy the fantastic views over the valley. Quiet site with very little traffic noise. Easy access to various locations towns/attractions etc. Highly recommended

Had two nights here recently and was thoroughly impressed.

Overall Review: 5/5 stars by

Had two nights here recently and was thoroughly impressed. Lovely shower, toilet area with lovely large wet rooms and plenty of hot water, would be nice to have a mop and bucket available to clean up after your shower leaving it ready for the next person, if busy I can imagine that sometimes you’d be showering in someone else’s soap suds ! We weren’t disturbed by the road noise it certainly wasn’t constant. Lovely walking area although we didn’t venture very far as our dogs are old and poorly but appreciated the far reaching views and the lovely horses and donkey! We were visiting family in the area so weren’t too concerned about local attractions but I agree with the previous review that it would be a good addition to have access to some local knowledge. Will definitely stay here again.
